From The Directors:
We hope everyone is taking the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful riding weather. It is a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful fall countryside.
We have just returned from the Wisconsin District Rally 2017 in Wisconsin Dells. We arrived on Thursday and started home late-morning Saturday because Judy was not feeling well.
We do not how many GWRRA members from the District attended, but we think the numbers were down a bit from last year. We think that we had 6 members from Chapter C attend the event. The District means that it is the State of Wisconsin’s yearly Rally. There were many GWRRA members from other District who come to Wisconsin to attend. Why would people travel to the Wisconsin Dells to attend the Rally? To have fun, to see fellow GWRRA members from all over. There was a game form to fill out for the rally “We Love Hugs” to get 10 people from different Chapter to get a hug. GWRRA members are huggers!
What did we do there? Chapter D event on Thursday evening was “Casino night”. We played blackjack! Played with funny money. At the end of the evening, we bid on white-elephant prizes and bought them with our funny money. Chapter D did an awesome job and it was fun with friends.
Then the actual rally started Friday. Opening Ceremonies, seminars/modules, rides, raffles, friends, and then a DJ/Dance on Friday evening ”Hippie Groove On”. Chapter C had the off Bike Game and there was a lot of laughs doing that.
Saturday comes, Masters Breakfast for current Master Level status, rides, seminars/modules, they had a craft seminar to make a pet rock. Saturday night, dinner and 60’s Game Show. Closing Ceremonies, Basket raffles, Packer Football raffled off, 50-50, and Membership Enhancement Raffle. Lots of things to do. Everything goes back to “Friends, Fun, Knowledge”. Think about attending next year’s event. Our Chapter Staff will inform you of the dates and get you a brochure.
If you have any questions about this year’s event, just ask us. We had a great time.
Just a reminder, The November social is our 2018 Planning Meeting. Reminder e-mails will start coming out shortly.
Please help the Chapter C Staff plan the calendar for 2018.
Thanks and more to come next month.

Thank You, every one for the help and support.

Rider Education: October, 2017
Right now is a BIG time of the year to get out there and ride. With the leaves turning colors it can offer some very scenic experiences. It is also a time to exercise a little more caution. Road conditions can change dramatically with leaves on the road which can lead to slippery conditions. Then there are the farmers harvesting their crops where you might encounter some spilled grain or mud or gravel on the road, or slow moving equipment. And, there always seems to be an increase of wild life, too. They have a tendency to blend-in very well with the surrounding leaves colors which makes them very hard to see. It isn’t only the larger 4-legged ones to watch out for, there are also the smaller critters, too. Like other riders, I too, also call them “thumpers”. Where most motorcyclists have problems is trying to avoid hitting them. Riders have a tendency to over-correct, or do not know the proper technique of doing a last second swerve. Now, add in some wet leaves as well as a wet road condition and you have a disaster waiting to happen. Another situation I have experienced on a heavy tree-lined road, on a bright sunny day, is where the shadows of the trees hamper your visibility by playing tricks on your eyes. Sometimes it is hard to judge where the edge of the road is, or to see the next curve coming up. This is a good time to think about “slowing down”! We spend a lot of time in our rider courses talking about seeing and being seen. Looking as far ahead as possible gives you time to make a decision on what action is needed. Not only do you need to see what is coming, but you need to make yourself as visible as possible, too. Always, play the “What-if? game”. Our Co-Riders can be a BIG help with that extra set of eyes looking around. They often see things that we have missed. Working as a team makes the ride that much more enjoyable, and SAFER. The fall season is a great time for riding but be aware of what could happen. It helps to keep the shiny side up! Experience all you can, enjoy the ride, and do it as SAFELY as possible. And…have FUN doing it!
Please be careful and ride SAFE, and remember… ATGATT! Dress LOUD and BRIGHT!
