From The Director:

 Hi Everyone

April is in the record books and finally in the past. Record cold temps, Record snow falls and not much riding. Almost had to cancel a social, and did have to cancel the ride after the social. Many of us would of liked to hibernated for the weekend or even more. What will May bring. More winter, finally spring, or maybe just jump into summer. All I know is Lets ride. We had Maintenance Day at the Hempe house. We made it to the DMV to renew the Motorcycle License.

May starts out with a bang. The first weekend we have the Chapter C Fund Raiser. Friday and Saturday at the Pick & Save’s in Fond du Lac. We hope to see many of our friends with their motorcycles. In May we start our Fortunate Soul's Rides. And we also start our Ice Cream rides. Things are starting to roll now.

That’s all for now and hope to see everyone at the next event.

Thanks and more to come next month.

Ride Smart & Be Safe!

Thank You, every one for the help and support.

The Educator:

Last month (April) was Motorist Awareness month - specifically designated for vehicles and drivers.  Focus and attention was given to everyday driving Alertness for all of us regarding our driving skills with our everyday vehicles & watching out for other vehicles approaching us in other lanes, blind spots, playing with the radio or GPS, scolding kids, eating while driving, cell phones, and looking twice (everywhere) around us -- sound familiar?  Isn’t that what we are also educated about & trained to watch out for as motorcyclists in our GWRRA seminars & training?  This coming month (May) has also being designated as a Motorist Awareness month but with the emphasis being on motorcycles & vehicles Sharing the Road safely together – to Look Out Twice for each other.

This is also the time for us to begin focusing on getting ourselves ready for the upcoming riding seasons (spring/summer/fall).  For some of us our riding skills may need to be sharpened.  Our ARC and TRC rider courses are in full-swing again, and both of them are important and beneficial to everyone, whether you are in the Levels Programs, or not.  Our Wisconsin District Educator has set-up a schedule of ARC (2-wheel) and TRC (3-wheel) skills training courses for all of our Members in June.  Remember to check your riding gear too, before taking that 1st ride.  Helmets, leather gloves, jackets, and riding boots need to be replaced periodically.  I know all these things keep sounding repetitive but that’s what our Rider Education Program is all about (Safety).  Check to see if all of your safety gear still fits, or may be out-of-date, or may need replacing.  And again, think about carrying a small fire extinguisher on your bike, or a tire patch kit?  Then again, most of us today carry roadside (911) assistance, thus making patch kits somewhat obsolete.  Finally let’s not forget our good ‘ole T-CLOCKs before we head on out for our rides.  We should ALL know what that is.  We are a family of Gold Wing Riders, dedicated to our credo of:  FRIENDS for FUN, SAFETY & KNOWLEDGE, whatever the season, whether we’re on our bikes or driving our vehicles.  Drive Safe and Ride SAFE.
