FROM THE DIRECTOR:
Hello Team from Chapter Q,
Several of us just got back from our Williamstown, Kentucky trip. What an adventure! We used Bloomington Illinois as our midway stopping point both going and coming back. We missed all rain during the trip, only a little on the way back once we got into Wisconsin.
The first place that we went was the Ark Adventure which is an authentic replica of Noah’s Ark as told in Genesis in the Bible. It showed how all the animals where kept, fed, and taken care of and the living quarters of Noah and his family. Unbelievable how large the structure is and all the information that was available on each of its three stories. It truly made the Bible come alive as you walked around the structure.
The second place was the Creation Museum and Stargazers Planetarium. The gardens outside highlighted beautiful plants, flowers, and wildlife centered around streams and ponds. Inside, the museum displays illustrated the creation of man and animals as told in the Bible. In the planetarium you could see presentations on the universe, star systems, and the planets all while reclining in special recliners that made you feel like you were traveling in space!
The last place we traveled was to Portsmouth, Ohio which is in the far south east corner of the state. The Ohio River flows between Kentucky and Ohio and in Portsmouth there is a large over 2,000-foot-long concrete retaining wall which has painted murals of all the history, industry, and important events that happened in Portsmouth since its conception. Unbelievable is the only way to describe it! The murals are all painted in 3D and come alive in front of your eyes!
We had a great time; three other couples made the journey with Kim and me. We traveled roughly 1,500 miles all together while all of us got to know our newest members of Chapter Q, Cathy and Jeff Kolpanen. We shared great food and fellowship throughout the trip as they look forward to becoming long term travel companions and friends. Fun, friendship, and fellowship, it doesn’t get much better than that!
In June Chapter Q will head to Copper Harbor and the Porcupine Mountains to see the beautiful sights of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Lake Superior. Craig Holmes will be leading the group and has a great itinerary and routes all ready to go. Craig has spent a lot of time researching the areas and should be a great time for all!
Kim and I are looking forward to our next ride and seeing all the Chapter Q members. Take care.
